Durif

Blue grape. The grape is named after the French Dr. Durif, who developed this variety to be able to resist various diseases. It is a cross between Syrah and Peloursin and is often confused with Petit Syrah. Found primarily in California and Australia, it is best drunk with food rather than on its own.
